Plantation Island Resort Fiji is nestled on the large offshore island of Malolo LaiLai, part of the Mamanuca Group of islands and is just 16km offshore or a 45min fast catamaran ride west of Port Denerau Marina in Nadi. If you’re after a fun filled, action-packed family atmosphere, along with boat access to any of the several world class breaks in the area like Cloudbreak or Namotu etc then Plantation Island Resort is the perfect resort. What’s more is that its exceptional value for money!

Surf transfers are to be arranged and paid for direct with reception upon arrival. Their boat can access the surrounding reef breaks (15+mins) of Cloudbreak, Namotu, Wilkes (being the main ones) as well as Swimming Pools, Desperations and Restaurants. They depart each day based around the high tides and the trips usually last between 3 – 4 hours and some days they head out twice a day if the conditions suit.

Fiji receives swell all year round from the low pressure systems that pass under New Zealand. The main swell window is generally from April through October (the dry season), but shoulder months from November through to April (the occasionally wet season) still provide exceptionally fun days.

As with most of the South Pacific, the seasonal South East “trade” winds blow (mid morning to late afternoon) from June through September as the high pressure systems move over the islands, which do give way to days in between which allow glassy or light wind days. There are breaks during these trade winds which are offshore, so the key is to hit the main breaks before the trades pick up, then surf the alternate breaks which are offshore.

The shoulder months of October through to March provide fun sized waves with breaks receiving light and variable winds producing many glassy days.

Many people prefer to travel during shoulder months of March, April, May and September, October, November, hoping to get glassy conditions with early or late south swells.

Plantation Island has extensive accommodation covering all price ranges – from comfortable hotel rooms to spacious traditional Fijian huts known as ‘bures’. All accommodation is close to the beach and all the resort’s facilities such as the pools and restaurants etc.

All rooms offer air conditioning, telephones, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, overhead fans, private patio/balconies, private bathrooms with shower, toilet, vanity and hand basin.

The lead-in room is the Poolside Rooms. These sleep up to 5 people and are located pool side just a 3min walk to the beach and restaurants.
The one-bedroom Garden Terrace Rooms sleep up to 5 people and are probably one of the most spacious room categories. These are located about a 3min walk from the beach and restaurants.
