Jo-Yo’s G Land Surf Camp

The camp is set amongst a National Park called “Alas Purwo” on the secluded South Western tip of Java in Grajagan. It’s located just off the beach line, right up the point directly in front of the section known as Speedies.
The long lines are unmistakably perfect and the discovery that followed is now regarded as arguably the World’s best left-Hander. Known for its consistent off-shore trade winds from March to November, the Indian Ocean during this time delivers clean powerful lines which makes G-Land one of the worlds most consistent breaks. Joyos is a mecca for travelling surfers and the global pilgrimage to surf G-Land occurs all year around as surfers travel to Java to sample G-Land jewels.
G-land is big, long, fast, hollow, consistent and lacks nothing.
This wave wraps and winds and barrels forever and ever. To make it from the top to the bottom is an experience that surfers return for year after year.
Grajagan is an enormous left hand reef, where long interval swell from the Southern Ocean lines up and unloads over coral and lava in several distinct sections: Kong’s, Moneytrees, Launching Pads, Speedies, Chickens and 20/20s.
Kong’s; is the top of the reef, a wave that is not as long or hollow as the sections down the line. Kong’s is rarely less than three feet and is the most user friendly part of the wave, unless the swell is giant. Moneytrees; is the money part of the wave: a long, tubing section that is good up to eight feet. Launching Pads; is an outer reef that pops up on bigger swells and leads to Speedies: Fickle, but a 200-yard long barrel that can keep a surfer locked inside the barrel for as long as youre capable of!
Next is 20-20s and Chickens; softer waves for those getting their confidence up before hitting the main peaks. Lastly a couple miles inside the bay is Tiger Tracks; a right-hander for envious regular foots.
The ideal season for G-land is May through October. This is the dry season, when trade winds blowing from the southeast groom raw southern hemisphere swell wrapping onto the reef at Grajagan creating some of the most perfect waves on the planet.
There are 4 accommodation packages available according to budget. The lead-in is the standard package which fan cooled, private bathroom and electricty until 10pm. The next up is the Deluxe room which has the same inclusions along with day air-con with the room being a little more modern. The next is the Superior room which is more comfortable again and has 24hrs electricity, day air-con and a TV/DVD player with a larger bungalow type look. Lastly is the VIP room which is a 2 story bungalow, 24hrs electricty int TV/DVD, day air-con and mini fridge. All are equipped with a double or 2 single beds, mosquito nets, bedside light, small table inside the room, cool fan, private balcony, comfortable terrace seat, table, water dispenser and board racks.
The central relaxation house features the bar, dining room, leather lounge plus a 36 inch TV with surround sound stereo system to enjoy the latest movies and most prominent channels transmitted by satellite dish. This area also has 2 large pool tables, table tennis (ping-pong), and much more to keep you entertained.
Surfing is what its all about at Gland, but the camp does offer a few other activities to break up your water-time.
The camp also has 2 large pool tables, tables tennis, yoga hall, internet connection and many more. Other non-surfing activities include fishing, yoga, snorkeling, sun-bathing, beach combing, diving, jungle trekking, and so forth. Internet via broadband satellite you can enjoy fast internet access using broadband satellite connection. It is available for rent at affordable rates.
