Aloita Resort & Spa is located on Silabok Island, in the north Sipora Island area approximately 150 kilometres off the coast of mainland Sumatra, Indonesia. This secluded island is surrounded by a white sand beach, magnificent coral reef, turquoise water and lush tropical vegetation. The refined and comfortable resort accommodates both surfers and non-surfers and is a perfect getaway for surfers, families, couples and those who enjoy yoga.
Aloita Resort also offers a smorgasbord of aquatic activities in crystal blue water right at your front door from surfing to diving to fishing. The surf shuttle will zip you twice daily to breaks right in their backyard such as the famous Telescopes lefthander and also up and down the coast to other waves such as HT’s, Rifles and the Playgrounds area.

You have seen the flawless waves in mags and vid’s… The Mentawai Islands attracts swell all year round with more perfect peeling left and right-handers in one region than anywhere on earth.
More than 70% of the waves in the Mentawais are accessible within an hour by speedboat from Aloita Resort. Right in their backyard only 10 minutes away are five well known consistent spots including Telescopes- their “go-to” wave. They also access other breaks such as Icelands, Scarecrows, Macaronis, H.T’s, Lances Left and the (additional charge) Playgrounds area. Mellower waves are also close by including a fun learners wave right at the end of Aloita Beach. For an optimum experience, they run a policy of maximum 14 surfers at any one time.
Situated roughly 100 km off the west coast of Sumatra on the equator, these pristine islands are amongst the most beautiful in the world with four large islands making up the Mentawai archipelago, surrounded by many smaller ones.
Crystal clear water, golden beaches and palm trees line the shores with classic reefs, point breaks and beach breaks, which offer waves for ALL standards of surfing ability.
Depending on the season, waves vary in size from 2 to 12 foot with the average wave height being about 4-5 ft. (head ½ high or 8ft faces) they can range anywhere from fun sized walls to awesome stand-up barrels.
The wet season starts in mid-October and lasts until late March-April, with the swells dropping to a more comfortable fun size coupled with some of the most uncrowded line-ups. Winds during this time are variable and glassy. Check for the low season specials during this period.
April is the beginning of dry season, which coincides with the start of the swell season. The Southern hemisphere swells start pulsing up the Indian Ocean with peak swell season being June through to September. This period also sees the winds turn to a favourable easterly direction.
Air and water temperatures range between 27-30 degrees C all year round.
Aloita is an intimate Boutique Resort with only 10 beachfront bungalows, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and a private white sand beach (Wi-fi also available).
They have either private bungalows or family bungalows. Each contains a bathroom with shower, fully air conditioned, outside shower and private rear courtyard, front terrace with ocean views and easy access to a private pristine white sand beach.
Each one of the bungalows is entirely self-contained and is constructed using high quality materials, including the same local hardwoods you’ll see throughout the resort.
Private bungalows are absolute beachfront with ocean views and can be either set with king or Twin beds (extra beds avail).
The Family bungalows are also absolute beachfront with ocean views and are 2 bedrooms with a living room and can sleep 4-6 people, so great for families or groups.
Meals are exquisitely presented an generous and range from seafood, Italian, Chinese and Indonesian cuisine.
To help you unwind back on land they offer a full menu of treatments by experienced staff at the Mentawais only day spa. So, it’s a perfect place to take the non-surfing partner as well as the family.
The resort offers twice daily Yoga classes in their beautiful Yoga Hall just a few steps away from the ocean. Yoga classes are open to all levels, allowing you to discover or deepen your existing practice. Whether you are attending a Yoga holiday retreat or taking part in daily classes, we offer a tranquil and nurturing setting to inspire and make your holiday as relaxing as it can be- guided by their resident Yoga teacher.
They also offer a; Tropical Day Spa, Beachfront Bar & Restaurant, Library, Billiard lounge, guided village and rainforest tours and water sports centre which offers snorkelling equipment, a learn to surf school and SUP rentals.

The snorkelling around the resort is a breath-taking experience, with some untouched corals and a diverse range of marine life just in front of your bungalow.
