The Republic of El Salvador is located in Central America, bordered by Guatemala to the West, Honduras to the North, Nicaragua to the East, and the Pacific Ocean to the South. The topography consist in lush mountain ranges, volcanoes, lakes, farmlands and a narrow coastal belt featuring some of the most beautiful beaches and right hand point breaks in the world.

The thought of El Salvador for many people conjures thoughts of civil war, political strife, poverty and danger; however much has changed over the past 16 years, peace was signed in 1992, starting a new era of democracy and stability. El Salvador now offers an entirely new (uncrowded) experience to the surf traveler!

Their surf guides, are experienced bilingual local surfers that will take you to the best surf spots in the country by car or by boat, they will give you the best advice of where to go, the best time to surf according to the conditions, size and direction of the swell, tides, crowds and your ability. The water temp here is a year round 28-30 Deg C and majority of the surf breaks are either over black sand or a rock boulder bottom and are either beach breaks or the famed El Sal point breaks.

The dry season of November through April/May typically sees offshore winds, sunny skies and consistent surf in the chest to head high range.

Although less frequent than during the wet season, large swells do roll through this time of year and it is not unheard of to get overhead waves by late February.

The wet season months of May/June through October see the largest and most consistent swells with average wave height in the head high+ range, with the larger 8ft-12ft swells coming through consistently. The weather patterns during this time of year typically have glassy mornings with a light onshore flow starting in the late morning to early afternoon.

Although these months can receive a lot of rain, rain showers usually start in the late afternoon, often raining through the night. Mornings and early afternoons often have sunny skies and perfect peeling surf.
