Waimea Bay, North Shore
Includes: Airfares to Honolulu (ex Auckland), rental car, 7 nights twin share self-contained apartment air-con accommodation.
Why not try a combo package of 4 nights on the North Shore and 3 nights in Waikiki?
Perfect for couples, friends or families on a budget! Perfectly nestled next to Waimea Bay, the lodge rooms overlook 3 Tables beach, surrounded by tropical surf and golden sandy beaches. Having a rental car means you can explore the North Shore’s endless surf breaks – and there are surf breaks for ALL levels of ability! So many things to see an enjoy from exploring markets in Haleiwa, prawn food trucks in Kahuku, the Dole Pineapple Plantation and the historic Pearl Harbour area.
The North shore of Oahu needs no intro or big sell. The whole coastline is littered with surf breaks from beginner beach breaks to the advanced named reef breaks like Pipeline. The best way to explore this surf-rich area is of course by rental car in which you can drive along the coast road whilst checking the breaks, then park up and hit the water!
During the summer months (June – September), the calm aquatic paradise of the North Shore is home to every kind of ocean activity: snorkelling, diving, fishing and paddleboarding. Steady trade winds are usually enough to generate small, gentle waves that are ideal for beginner surfers.
In the winter (October – May), the majority of breaks turn on being swell season. My personal favorite months are April & May when the swell is still consistent but the lineups are nearly empty!
Affordable accommodation apartments all right on the beach!
The Beach Building consists of private studios. Rooms come with a combination of double beds, single beds, and twin beds, and some with bunk beds in unique combinations, perfectly suited for many types of travellers. Each unit has a bathroom, fridge and sink including plates, cutlery, etc. All you need is a beach towel and suntan lotion. There is a local supermarket a short distance away to grab groceries and at nights there are local food trucks which open up. Nothing like sitting on picnic tables outside food trucks across the beach on the North Shore!
The studios all have Cable TV and either a balcony or a patio that overlooks the ocean. These are situated at Pupukea Beach Marine Sanctuary or known locally as the Three Tables beach. Each apartment has its own car park outside too.
There are so many activities to experience on the North Shore.
Check out the many surf spots, have a go at sailing, snorkel right outside the accommodation at the Pupukea Beach Marine Sanctuary. There are also scuba diving, paddle boarding and kite boarding just to name a few more
If you prefer to stay on land, there is world class golfing at Turtle Bay resort and in the historic town of Kahuku, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, skydiving, glider riding … everything you can think of.
So many things to see an enjoy- Make sure you add in a visit to the iconic Dole Pineapple Plantation and Factory and stop by the town of Haleiwa for delicious cuisine and shopping. Take a drive further North to the local prawn food trucks in Kahuku or head down the coast and visit the historic Pearl Harbour area.
