Built again from scratch after the tsunami- the resort is looking better than ever before with some amazing new additions!Salani Surf Resort, located on Upolu's south coast, is for travellers looking to experience the best of Samoa's surf and culture. Salani is a dedicated surf camp with very high service and safety standards. They have trained boatmen for rescue and first aid, and have the highest standard of boats and equipment.

Salani Surf Resort is situated on the mouth of the Mulivai Fagatoloa River (almost mosquito free), between the base of a lush tropical jungle basin, crystal blue lagoon and next to the rural and still very traditional Salani village. Salani can accommodate 16 guests comfortably in 8 air-conditioned fales (bungalows). Each unit has a large "L" shaped deck and is raised to receive cool ocean breezes. Showers flow with island temperature water or solar-heated water which is very refreshing in the tropical heat. To maintain this quality and safe guest experience the resort hosts no more than 12 surfing guests at any one time.

Samoa receives South swell all year round, whether being Antarctic ground swells that charge up from New Zealand (during the winter months), or the swells which pass Hawaii heading South (during our Summer months). These swells come from out of deep water and unload on Samoa's coral reefs- often creating steep take-offs, fast waves and wide-open tubes, so even a 2ft day has a surprising amount of punch behind it!

Salani has access to a number of breaks around the island with Salani Left and Right being only a 5-minute boat ride away. directly in front of the camp, off the reef pass created by the river. The right is a shorter, very powerful wave producing open tubes. The left is a longer wave with some open face sections and requires calm conditions with good swell. Twenty five minutes by boat, off a small motu, you can ride the lefts of "The Island". With moorings at each spot for safety, and the health of the reef, it can also ideal for photo/video shots. In general surf in Samoa is recommended for the intermediate or better surfer; having made that statement, there are often times that people on any ability can paddle out and have fun. Samoa has gained a reputation for being particularly heavy with sharp shallow reefs which is not always the case. Salani Right has a relatively dead and flat reef, with other breaks like Tiavea offering smooth cobblestone river-rock bottom. Land transfers are provided to additional breaks such as Boulders, Siumu, Ti'avea, Plum Pudding, Waterfalls and more. Additional activities include fishing, snorkelling, volleyball, skurfing, table tennis, island tours and nightlife excursions.

As well as surfing in the un-crowded pristine South Pacific Ocean, Salani offers a number of scheduled activities in and out of the water (based around the surf conditions) in order to provide a great experience for the surfer and non-surfing partner alike. Salani Surf Resort has become known for showing surfers and their partners the islands natural and cultural beauty whilst still focusing on the surf-great for couples.

The meals are prepared with the freshest local and imported fruits, vegetables and meats, and served in generous proportions to satisfy the largest appetites. Italian, American, Mexican, European, Indian, Aussie barbecue, vegetarian and Samoan dishes are served on a rotating basis.
