Currency in the US is the USD. This comes in coins(1 cent “Penny”, 5 cent “Nickel”, 10 cent “Dime”, 25 cent “Quarter” and less common 50 cent and $1) and notes($1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 and less common $2). Be careful with notes as some of the older ones are the same size and colour which can be confusing, so make sure you check before handing over your notes. We also strongly recommend that you take at least 1 credit card with you as all US hotels will require a deposit as a guarantee for incidentals such as meals, drinks etc.

The USA is a great destination that can be visited at any time of the year. Due to its Northern and Southern Hemisphere location, the season are the reverse of those in NZ with the hottest months being July and August. Generally it gets hotter the further south you go and seasonally more extreme the further you are north and inland from the coasts. Winters in the northeast and upper Midwest can bring long periods below freezing even though its still warm enough to swim at the beaches in Florida and souther California. Travelling to certain destinations in the USA at specific times of the year can be a magical experience, there is nothing like New York during the Christmas and New Year Holiday period or Boston and New England in the Fall.
English is the spoken Language throughout the United States.
